Rodney Cain is a convict who was sent to jail for murdering the stepfather of his then girlfriend, Lorraine Hamilton. When asked why he did it, he told them that his Lorranine was 16 and her stepfather was going to have him arrested for statutory rape. He was sent to Five Points Correctional Facility.
Spoilers: It is eventually revealed later in the episode that Rodney was set up by Lorraine's mother. Lorraine's mother convinced Rodney that her husband and Lorraine's step father was raping Lorraine. She convinced Rodney that Lorraine would kill herself if anyone ever found out, which is why Rodney never brought it up during his trial. Lorraine's mother in turn got a dead husband and one million dollars in life insurance from her husbands death. Lorraine's mother continued to write Rodney while he was in prison under Lorraine's name. Lorraine was told that Rodney did not want her to write or contact him.
Escape[]
Rodney electrocutes the guard that has always harassed him, putting the plug of his radio into the bucket of water just as the guard was peeing in it, and beats him up. Taking his uniform, he just walks out of prison. Just as he is about to take his car, he is caught by another guard. Rodney quickly beats him unconscious.
Pursuit[]
Rodney immediatedly goes to see hsi ex-girlffriend Lorraine, and they drive off together. However, when she reveals the letters he got aren't from her, he begins to go off the rails. A man intervenes, believing Lorraine to be in danger, so Rodney points a gun at him, but Lorraine gets him to let him go and they drive off together. In order to finance his escape, Rodney calls Candice, demanding $50 000 from her, but Candice throws the handover planned by the Breakout Kings, hindering his capture. They arrange another handover, but Lorraine, angry at her mother after they found out what she did, gets in a fight with her, graplling for the gun, and the gun goes off, killing Candice. Rodney and Candice lay low in a motel when bounty hunter Bard Kelly catches Candice, forcing her to show him to Rodney. Rodney manages to disarm him, though. When the team arrives, Rodney threatens to kill Brad if they come any closer, but Lorraine begs him to give himself up since she can't lose him. Rodney capitulates and is arrested by the team, left with Lorraine's promise to write to him.
